About

Someplace out in this collection there’s an entry titled “Little Monk” where you can find out how that name came about. But anyway, the Lord God and I spend mornings together over coffee, and some other times also. Morning coffee is at a comfortable dining table, overlooking a grassy treed back yard, occupied by a fairly large brownish/gold dog (who still thinks he’s a puppy), and a vast number of squirrels who amuse themselves by tormenting said dog.

Some people consider me bright, but I think they are just being kind. The Lord God has to spend a LOT of our time together “teaching me simple stuff”, and across the years it has seemed that some others like to hear about what He teaches me. I appreciate both their prayers and their caring, so I try to respond.

This “BLOG” thing, seems like a fairly painless way of sharing what goes on across our coffee cups, without having to be nervous about critique, stepping on toes, or offending anyone I know, love, or work with. May the gracious Lord of Light, Love, and Hosts bless you when you are here, and throughout the rest of your day!

I don’t know if you have ever seen my second favorite book in the whole universe, but it’s called “Tales of a Magic Monastery” by Theophane the Monk.

The book is hard to describe, filled with a number of short parables or reflections, accompanied by glorious pen and ink artwork, that just make your heart and soul sing, while you mind sometimes cramps. This book is planted deep within the soil of my heart.

While I am a staff minister with a metropolitan church, I am a fairly simple “child of God”, without a lot of political or diplomatic sophistication. To put it bluntly… people and their motives (especially regarding religion and church) often baffle me utterly. Sometimes, my elders and betters have to ‘splain things to me before I “get it”.

Thank you for coming, Gentle Reader…

Little Monk

Thank you! Keep me in your prayers, please.. Not so sure about “safe”, lol. Sometimes I think Our Lord gives me just enough understanding to really mess up… but He is forever gracious, and seems to have an excellent sense of humor and endless patience with me! Grace to thee! Little Monk

I am enjoying your site… in fact at the moment your comment came in, I am in the middle of reading… “How to Witness to a Jewish Person (and other things Christians screw up royally)”. Gosh this is great! I wish everyone could read it. I may well reblog it… let me finish it first! lol

    Grace to you! Shalom!

Neat blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere? A theme like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make my blog jump out. Please let me know where you got your design. Thanks kebkgekdafad

Squirrels and dogs brother! Sounds like many of my mornings (and yes, coffee!) We moved to Colorado 3 years ago to be close to our kids and what a wonderful blessing to find squirrels playing in the trees and yard across the street; and when we are particularly blessed, we get a visitor on the fence out back, six feet away from our patio doors stopping by for a gawk at the strange happenings inside the house!!!
Talk about realizing the blessings of the Lord in a real and living way!!! I’m no longer in a “Pastor-ship” so far as a church building due to disability, but the ministry I started in ’84 as an outreach and teaching ministry keeps me busy enough and especially since I now minister to many shut-ins and others somewhat ignored locally.
Our Father through His Holy Spirit continually reminds me that He does not repent of our gifts or callings and will use ANY willing, surrendered vessel until He calls us back to His arms!! Simple you say? So much the better for we as sheep are rather simple and it makes it easier for us to follow the Great Shepherd when He calls us close or commands us to go a certain direction! Simple? Wish we all would be so simple!!!
Love you brother and many, many blessings as you continue to listen and to give to us all!!
